Most job search advice starts with your CV.

The Obvious Hire™ Method starts with understanding what will influence the hiring manager to choose you.

Think differently about your job search.

Then everything else starts to change.

Why These Problems Keep Showing Up

Most professionals think these are separate problems. In reality, they're're often symptoms of seeing the hiring process only from their own perspective.

Applications disappear into a black hole

You apply, but rarely hear back, and you’re not sure why.

You’re getting interviews but not offers

You make it to the final stages, yet someone else always gets chosen.

You struggle to explain your value clearly

You know what you bring to the table, but find it hard to put into words.

Your CV describes what you’ve done, but not the value you bring

It’s not having the impact your know it should.

Networking feels uneasy or unproductive

You’re not sure who to talk to, what to say, or how to turn contacts into opportunities.

You’re being perceived as too senior,or too expensive

It’s draining your confidence & making you question what to do.

Most job seekers see their career through their own eyes.

The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you see it through the eyes of the people making the hiring decision.

Hiring Decisions Are More Complex Than Most People Realise

They are influenced by far more than your ability to do the job.

Many professionals spend most of their time proving they can do the job.

But that’s only part of the hiring decision.

As a hiring manager, I wasn’t just assessing capability. I was weighing up everything that would influence whether I chose one candidate over another.

The Obvious Hire™ Method is built on reverse engineering how hiring decisions are made.

The methodology stays the same. How it’s applied is unique to every person. That’s because no two careers, opportunities or hiring decisions are exactly alike.

The strongest candidate isn’t always the one who gets hired.

The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you focus your time and effort on the factors that influence hiring decisions most.

Most people invest their effort in getting applications out.

The Obvious Hire™ helps you invest your effort in becoming the obvious choice.

It changes where you invest your time and effort.

How The Obvious Hire™ Works

A structured approach to becoming the obvious choice.

The Obvious Hire™ Method is built around four connected lenses.

This gives you a clear, structured way to navigate the hiring process. Rather than trying to improve everything at once, you’ll work through four connected lenses that help you focus your time and effort where it has the greatest impact on becoming the obvious choice.

Depending on your membership, you’ll have access to practical tools that help you apply each lens to your own career and job search.

What You'll Find Inside Your Membership

Structured to guide you from understanding your value to securing your next opportunity.

Your journey starts here.

As soon as you join, you’ll receive immediate access to your membership, including your tools, frameworks, templates and practical resources.

I’ll personally introduce you to The Obvious Hire™ Method, explain how everything fits together, and help you identify the best place to begin based on your own situation.

The goal is simple: to help you get up and running quickly, so you can focus your time on the activities that have the greatest influence on hiring decisions.

Most experienced professionals are too close to their own careers to fully recognise the value sitting beneath their experience.

As a result, that hidden value doesn’t always come across in their CV, LinkedIn profile, networking conversations, interviews or career discussions.

Instead, many people unintentionally describe what they do, rather than communicating why organisations repeatedly trust them to do it.

This first lens helps you uncover what employers are really hiring you for.

Using the same thinking I applied when making hiring decisions, you’ll identify the strengths that run consistently throughout your career, the problems you solve, the value you create, and the evidence that builds confidence in your capability.

Everything else builds from here.

The clearer you become about your professional value, the easier it becomes to:

• Write a stronger CV and LinkedIn profile.
• Explain your experience with greater confidence.
• Position yourself more effectively for each opportunity.
• Build stronger networking and hiring conversations.
• Perform more convincingly during interviews.

Employers can’t recognise value that you haven’t yet articulated clearly.

Strong experience isn’t enough if employers can’t quickly understand where you fit, the value you bring, and why you’re relevant to this opportunity.

Many professionals unintentionally position themselves too broadly. Their CV, LinkedIn profile and applications describe everything they’ve done, rather than highlighting the experience that matters most to the role they’re targeting.

This lens helps you see your experience through the eyes of the employer.

Using the same thinking I applied when making hiring decisions, you’ll learn what employers are really looking for beneath the job description, how they assess relevance, fit and level, and where your positioning may be unintentionally weakening your applications.

As a result, you’ll be able to present your experience more clearly and consistently across your CV, LinkedIn profile, applications and hiring conversations.

You will start to notice the difference when you:

• Write stronger CV headlines, profiles and key achievements.
• Understand what employers are really asking for in job descriptions.
• Tailor your applications without rewriting your entire CV every time.
• Explain more clearly why you’re the right fit for a specific opportunity.
• Give recruiters and hiring managers confidence more quickly.

Employers can’t choose you if they don’t quickly understand where you fit.

Many professionals rely heavily on online applications without realising that many opportunities are influenced long before a role is advertised or an interview takes place.

At the same time, networking can feel uncomfortable, unfocused or transactional, causing people to overlook the relationships and conversations that already exist around them.

This lens helps you understand how opportunities really move, and how to position yourself closer to the people, conversations and professional communities where hiring decisions begin to take shape.

Using the same thinking I applied throughout my corporate career, you’ll identify where recruiters and hiring managers actively look for talent, how to use LinkedIn more strategically, how to strengthen your existing network, and how to approach professional conversations in a way that feels natural, credible and purposeful.

This isn’t about collecting more connections. It’s about creating better access to the opportunities that are right for you.

You will start to notice the difference when you:

• Use LinkedIn more strategically to increase your visibility.
• Know who to build relationships with and why.
• Feel more confident starting professional conversations.
• Develop a clearer networking and visibility strategy.
• Spend less time waiting for opportunities and more time getting closer to them.

Employers can’t hire someone they never have the opportunity to discover.

Strong interviews aren’t simply about giving good answers.

They’re about giving employers confidence that you’re the right person to hire.

Many professionals unintentionally over-prepare scripted answers, focus heavily on demonstrating capability, struggle when challenged, or leave interviews without fully communicating the judgement, credibility and commercial thinking that employers are looking for.

This lens helps you understand what hiring professionals are really assessing throughout interviews and hiring conversations.

Using the same thinking I applied when making hiring decisions, you’ll uncover what sits beneath common interview questions, how employers assess judgement, credibility, risk and fit, where doubt is unintentionally created, and how to answer questions in a way that builds confidence naturally.

This isn’t about memorising perfect answers. It’s about helping employers leave the interview feeling confident they can trust you in the role.

You will start to notice the difference when you:

• Prepare for interviews with greater purpose and confidence.
• Understand what employers are really assessing behind each question.
• Handle challenging questions more naturally and convincingly.
• Communicate your experience in a way that builds trust and credibility.
• Leave interviews making it easier for employers to choose you.

Employers rarely hire on capability alone. They hire when they feel confident choosing you.

Hiring decisions are shaped by many factors.

The Obvious Hire Method™ helps you strengthen the ones that matter most, and are under your control.

What You Might Be Wondering

The Obvious Hire™ Method equips you to become the candidate the hiring manager sees as their first choice.

Most professionals prepare for a job search by looking backwards at their career. The Obvious Hire™ prepares you by looking forwards to the hiring decision.

The methodology is built by reverse engineering how hiring decisions are made. Instead of preparing from your own perspective, you’ll learn to think from the perspective of the people making the hiring decision.

That changes everything.

  • You’ll prepare your CV differently.
  • You’ll position yourself in the market differently.
  • You’ll network with greater purpose.
  • You’ll approach interviews differently.

Rather than telling employers everything you’ve ever done, you’ll learn to present the information that helps them answer the questions they’re really asking:

Can this person solve our problem?

Will they succeed in our organisation?

Throughout the methodology, you’ll learn to think more commercially, understand what influences hiring decisions, and focus your time and effort on the things that genuinely make you easier to understand, easier to trust and easier to choose.

Every tool has two purposes.

  1. To change the way you think. By introducing practical frameworks and decades of hiring insight, you’ll learn to see your job search through the eyes of the people making the hiring decision.
  2. To help you apply that thinking to your own career. Rather than generic advice, you’ll receive guidance and recommendations tailored to your experience, aspirations and the challenges you’re facing.

Everything starts with understanding your professional value.

Before you can position yourself effectively, you need to understand the value you create for employers.

Most professionals know what they’ve done.

Far fewer understand why organisations hired them, trusted them and paid them to do it.

Lens 1 helps you uncover your true professional value, so every job search decision is built on solid foundations.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the more experienced someone becomes, the more likely they are to underestimate the value they bring.

Why?

Because they’ve been doing it for so long that it no longer feels exceptional.

They describe the tasks they carried out, rather than the judgement they exercised, the problems they solved, or the confidence others placed in them.

As a result, employers often see a list of responsibilities instead of the capability sitting behind them.

Many professionals put all their energy into perfecting their CV, believing that’s what gets people hired.

In reality, hiring decisions are shaped by much more than a document. Your visibility, positioning, network, LinkedIn profile, interview conversations and the confidence you create all influence whether an employer sees you as the obvious choice.

That’s why The Obvious Hire™ Method looks at the whole hiring journey, not just your CV.

The goal isn’t to change who you are. It’s to help employers recognise the value that’s already there.

The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you invest your time and effort in the factors that matter most, so employers can quickly recognise your value, understand your relevance and feel confident choosing you.

The Obvious Hire™ Method is designed for talented mid-career and senior professionals, in any industry and any country, who want to become the obvious choice for the roles they pursue.

Whether you feel overlooked despite strong experience, are navigating career disruption or transition, or simply want to position yourself more effectively, the methodology helps you think differently about how hiring decisions are made and prepare accordingly.

Yes. The methodology isn’t built around one profession or sector. It’s built around how hiring decisions are made.

Whether you work in finance, technology, engineering, healthcare, HR, consulting or another profession, the principles remain the same. Every tool adapts its guidance to your own background, experience and goals.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

It is designed for those who are actively looking for work.  However, it is equally suitable if you have just started your search, or are many months into it.

However, if you are looking to improve your CV or LinkedIn profile, or elevate your networking, this is ideal too.

Yes. Absolutely.

There’s nothing wrong with that. A strong CV is an important part of the hiring process. But if you’re still not getting the results you expected, it’s worth asking whether the problem is somewhere else.

The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you look at the bigger picture. Together we’ll explore how you’re positioning yourself, the opportunities you’re targeting, how employers are assessing your experience, and the factors that influence whether they feel confident moving your application forward.

Absolutely. In fact, they often work exceptionally well together.

The Obvious Hire™ isn’t designed to replace coaching or outplacement. It’s designed to make that support even more effective.

The methodology gives you practical frameworks, personalised tools and a structured way of thinking about your job search between sessions. That means you arrive with greater clarity, stronger foundations and better questions, allowing your coach or consultant to spend less time explaining concepts and more time helping you apply them to your own situation.

If you’re working with me through the Accelerator programme, that’s exactly how we use it. The tools help us work more efficiently together, so our coaching sessions can focus on interpretation, challenge, strategy and the decisions that will have the greatest impact on your career.

No. Many of the professionals I start working with have been applying for months.

Applying for a long time without success can be incredibly frustrating, and it’s natural to start questioning yourself. But more applications don’t always lead to better results.

Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can do is pause, step back, and understand what’s really happening. The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you identify where the hiring process is breaking down, strengthen your positioning, and focus your effort where it will have the greatest impact.

I know how this feels because I experienced it myself. After being made redundant, I submitted more than 100 applications and received more than 100 rejections before I realised I needed to stop trying harder and start thinking differently. That experience became the foundation of The Obvious Hire™ Method.

The method is primarily designed to be self-paced, allowing professionals to work through the tools and material in a way that fits their own schedule and priorities. The Accelerator option also includes direct strategic support and guidance from me.

Access is provided immediately after joining, allowing you to begin exploring the method, tools, and material straight away.

Yes, you can easily upgrade your membership if you decide you would like broader access to the tools or more personalised strategic support.

In fact, you can upgrade and downgrade as you please.  What is important is that you are being supported by the right subscription for your specific needs at particular points in time as your search evolves.

I genuinely want The Obvious Hire™ to be the right investment for you.

If you’ve joined and quickly realise it isn’t what you expected, please get in touch. I’d much rather have an honest conversation than have someone paying for something they won’t use.

If you’ve already accessed and started using the tools, refunds won’t normally be available, as the membership includes immediate access to digital content and resources. However, if there’s a genuine issue, I’ll always do my best to find a fair solution.

That depends on the level of support, structure, and strategic guidance you are looking for. Some professionals prefer independent self-paced access to the tools, while others want deeper personalised guidance alongside the method.

No. The tools are designed to guide professionals through structured thinking, positioning, and career decision-making in a practical and accessible way. The focus is on applying stronger hiring thinking, not learning AI technology.

No. The tools are already integrated into The Obvious Hire™ experience. You do not need your own separate AI subscription or technical setup.

Most professionals start with the foundation layer, understanding and strengthening their professional value, before moving into positioning, visibility, networking, and interview performance. The method is designed to build progressively, depending on individual goals and career situations.

That depends on your starting point, career situation, and how deeply you engage with the tools. Some professionals use the method intensively during active job search periods, while others return to it over time as their direction evolves.

The Accelerator is a true partnership. I work alongside you, helping you navigate both the practical and emotional challenges that often come with career change. Whether you need strategic challenge, a sounding board before a big decision, support after a disappointing interview, help negotiating an offer, or a completely bespoke AI tool built around your circumstances, you’ll have direct access to a very experienced and hands on hiring leader who is invested in helping you succeed.

Absolutely. In fact, The Obvious Hire™ Method was born from my own redundancy.

After more than 30 years in senior leadership, including as a Deloitte Director and Group Compliance COO, I found myself applying for over 100 roles and receiving more than 100 rejections. Like many professionals, I assumed my experience, as I saw it, would speak for itself.

It didn’t.

That experience forced me to step back and see the hiring process through the eyes of an employer again. I realised that employers weren’t rejecting my experience, they simply weren’t recognising the value behind it quickly enough.  I writing and talking about it from my perspective and not from the perspective of the buyer.

That’s what led me to create The Obvious Hire™ Method. Today, it helps professionals rebuild confidence, gain clarity, position themselves more effectively and move forward with a strategy that reflects how hiring decisions are really made.

Yes. The method was specifically designed with experienced and senior professionals in mind.

Yes. The method helps professionals communicate experience more clearly, strengthen examples of ownership and impact, and better understand what hiring managers are actually assessing during interviews.

Yes. The method helps professionals identify transferable strengths, improve relevance and positioning, and communicate capability more clearly during career transition.

Yes. While The Obvious Hire™ Method and tools are primarily designed in English, some professionals may still find them helpful when working in other languages. However, the tools have not yet been explicitly tested across multiple languages, so outputs may vary depending on language and context. Expanding multilingual capability is planned as part of future development versions of the method

Yes. The Obvious Hire™ Method is designed to work well beyond Switzerland.

Over the last 30 years, I’ve been involved in hiring decisions across the UK and Europe, giving me first-hand insight into how employers assess candidates in different markets. While every country has its own expectations and recruitment processes, I’ve found that the fundamentals of good hiring rarely change.

Employers want to understand what value you bring, why you’re relevant to their business, and whether they can feel confident hiring you. That’s exactly what The Obvious Hire™ Method helps you do.

All of the subscriptions come with The Obvious Hire™ CV template.  In the guidance material, I share with you a prompt you can use to give you support in tailoring it for specific country requirements or trends.

Hiring decisions always involve external factors outside anybody’s control. The purpose of The Obvious Hire™ Method is to strengthen everything that is within your control, helping you position yourself more clearly, communicate your value more effectively, reduce hiring doubt, and compete far more strongly in the market.

Meet Emily

My Value to You

I’ve experienced the hiring process from every side of the table.

I’ve applied for roles myself, hired talent, built high-performing teams, made difficult redundancy decisions and experienced major career disruption first-hand.

I’ve also been making hiring decisions since the 1990s, eventually becoming the person responsible for building teams and making final hiring decisions in global organisations.

Those experiences taught me something that changed the way I think about getting hired.

The most experienced candidates don’t always get the job.

Hiring decisions are influenced by far more than experience, qualifications or interview performance alone.

So I stepped back and asked a different question:

How are hiring decisions really made?

That question became the foundation of The Obvious Hire™ Method.

Drawing on decades of hiring experience, my background as a corporate forensic investigator and years of working with professionals navigating today’s hiring market, I developed a practical methodology that helps people understand the hiring decision first, so they can make better decisions throughout their own job search.

Because once you see your job search from the perspective of the people making the hiring decision, everything becomes clearer.
